On Valentine's Day February 14th, 1998, in New York, New York. At The Papillon Club of America, National Specialty, Emil made the cut both in Breed and the Sweepstakes, only 13,5 months old. 25 Champions were entered. As of April, 1998, Emil was listed as the 9th Best Toy Dog at the American Top dogs all-breed 1998 rankings, for Region 6, Southwest. Emil is also currently listed as the number 1 Papillon for Region 6, Southwest. July, 1998: Emil is currently ranked as The #3 best Papillon of America! (System II: counting each dog of any breed he defeated.) Emil is also ranked as The #4 best Papillon of America! (System I: counting each Papillon he defeated.) (Source: Top Papillons, Summer 1998.) February, 1999: Emil has started his career in Japan. He has won Best of Breed, and he has also placed in Group! March 27-28, 1999: Emil wins Reserve King, at the 1999 FCI Asian International Dog Show, held by the Japan Kennnel Club, Inc. Emil is winning Best Of Breed at almost every show, he is entered in. His latest Best Of Breed was at FCI Shiba International Dog Show, November 28th, 1999. FCI Osaka International Dog Show December 11-12, 1999. 68 Papillons were entered. Emil won Award of Merit ! Handled by the world famous Handler: Mr. John Oulton, USA. Emil is the 1999 Pedigree Award Winner! Emil got an Award of Merit at the 2002 FCI Asian International Dog Show, held by the Japan Kennnel Club, Inc. It is one of the biggest dog shows in the world! The judge Ellis Hulme (Tongemoor) wrote the following in the Papillon Club's Newsletter: "Second, with an Award of Merit, was Swedish bred Int.Ch Ekbacken's Emil, a small dainty, quality 5 years old RS/W with the most beautiful head, eye and expression and the longest fringes of the whole entry."
